So im about to start shooting a scene where my character will be looking in to a mirror pov. I was wondering how I would go about this without being able to see the camera while looking into the mirror. Any suggestion?
Just have your actor look into the camera (sitting on a tripod at face height). The better the actor can pull it off that they are looking into a mirror the better it will look. Now, if you want a reflection type surface to fake a mirror you could do it in post or try out different translucent materials that have a texture like glass or suram wrap.
Just don't shoot directly into the mirror. In otherwords, be slightly to the side, or slightly low angle, or whatever. It will depend on the size and shape of the mirror, but just be creative and test it out. With a little bit of work you can make it look like a straight on shot.
Thanks for the ideas. Ill definitly try both ways out and p[lay around with it.I have one more question. So im doing a short film where ill the whole film will be POV. At the begining my character will being acting like he is waking up strecting his arms and looking around at his feet, room etc. How would I go about this? I was thinking of maybe strapping the camera to my head so I could have both hands free for when I strecth. Is this the best way you guys think or maybe something easier where i dont have to strap anything to my head. Or maybe have someone hold the camera for me? The only thing is that Ill be the only crew member for this short. But it wouldnt be hard to find someone to help out when needed. Thanks for the post.
to add on to my last post Ill be needing to see both my hands through out the short . What would be the best way to go about this? HAving another cameraman? Strapping the camera on my body some where? Any ideas would be great thanks
