Posting movies on the web

Does anyone have any suggestions on what the best settings and format would be to post movie clips on the web. Most of the clips I post are between 1-10 minutes and the size I prefer is 320x240. The ones I save now some people have trouble viewing or they're choppy on some computers.

Do you have Final Cut Pro? Then you should have Quicktime Pro. Or better yet you should have Compressor. In FCP go File - Export - Using Compressor.
Choose a few of the MP4 settings to see which one you like best. Of course these files will be most compatible with the Quicktime player and if for some reason your end user doesn't have Quicktime (which i doubt they wouldn't) then try encoding them in a different format: Real, WM - you'll need a separate program to do those other formats though.

An Alternative to Compressor is using Quicktime Pro. Open the file in QT Pro and do a File - Export > in the drop down menu choose Movie to Quicktime Movie - You can then choose from the 2nd drop-down menu a setting that best suits what you need and see how you like the final output. OR click the Options button and mess with those settings. Most people seem to like Sorenson for their compressor. Choosing Mono in the Audio settings can help with file size a bit if stereo doesn't matter. There are lots of settings to fool with.

I personally would go with compressor or something like Sorenson Squeeze or Media Cleaner Pro or whatever new compression program is out there that'll have some nice presets already built-in.

I've got some compressor droplets here:

They're in the download section so you won't be able to see them unless you register. But I've also included some sample movies in the screenshot sections so you can see exactly what they look like.

Check them out.

Registration is free of course.
