Posters (One Sheet)

Hi all,

Does anyone have any suggestions for a good place to get movie posters printed/duplicated. I'm producing a feature shot on the DVX that will be screening soon, and we'd like to get several copies of our one-sheet (27x41) made. Probably only making a couple copies for right now (depending on cost).

Any leads on places that are good/not too expensive? We're in Los Angeles, but would be fine using an internet company as well.

Thanks!

I haven't priced kinko's, but have you considered them? (I've used them for print small numbers of DVD covers and they have worked great - just bring them a PDF file and your set.)

You you might look into Disc Makers - http://www.discmakers.com
they offer 300 full color 11" x 17" for $99 and 500 full color 18" x 24" for $299

Another possibility might be Americas Printers - http://www.americaprinter.com/

Hope that helps.

yeah the higher volume of prints you need usually the cheaper, if youre wanting just a couple one sheets its gonna be pricey per sheet.

Recently I was looking for a place to get posters done as well, but at that size I couldn't find anyone that would do a short run (less than 100).

I think you will have to get something smaller like 11 x 17 or be willing to pony up a lot more cash.

If you do find a place though, please share it.

I used Kinkos to print my DVD covers and the results were awesome! I get so many compliments on how professional everything looks. I have to also give thanks to my graphic designer for hooking up the layout of the cover too! For printing you may want to take them an EPS file (Photoshop). Most printer companies will ask for that file above others. You may have to up your DPI resolution too. I had Kinkos make me a banner of my companies logo and I gave them a file with DPI set to 900. The higher the number the better looking the result will be told by my graphic designer. My banner is 2 feet by 3 feet. I am going to get a much bigger one made later on.

I regularly print banners for $15 per square meter on thick glossy paper at the local print-shop. Quality is great, and size is as big as you want it to be.

They may have 11x17 or A2/A3 at a discounted rate.

Nice, America printer even offers the photoshop PSD files. Nice!

Yeah the layouts are nice to format your design to. I've used them for business cards and have been pleased with them.

I've done the DiscMakers 11x17 route -- nice results but as stated the price is only good with a replication order.

I use America's Printer (www.americasprinter.com) almost exclusively for most of my print jobs (biz cards, retail displays, sell sheets etc). Great pricing on sell sheets and really nice turnaround. Based in California.

However, for the largest poster I've had done to date I used Image Media in Florida (www.imagemedia.com). They had the best deal I could find on 18x24 size (qty 1,000)

Last time I checked Kinkos for a 1-off it was something like $10 per square foot. Ugh! I did use Kinkos to do a 1-off proof of my 18x24 design, but had them split it over two 11x17 pages. It was almost the same size and only cost $3.

Yeah, kinkos is not cheap, but I believe that it is closer to $2 - $3 per square foot. I just had them print off a picture that was 7 inches by 38 inches, and it came to just over $12.

That is a creative solution - spliting it onto two pages, nice work around.
