so i'm sending the audio from my film to a post house and when i get it back and import the final file into premiere the audio levels automatically go above the levels that the post house set.

i need to export to tape for the authoring facility to make the dvds....what do i do?

Are your mixers at 0?

What level did they set?

Did the post house supply reference tone ? What was it?

i just exported a project file, and imorted the sequence in it's entirety into the project again, and bam, levels were above original file that i exported....what up with that?

should i get a reference tone from the post house????

I do not understand your workflow /process.

How did you supply audio to a post house? (a project file?, .wav files?...)

What did they do to with what ever you gave them?

How do you know the levels playing back in Premiere are not what the post house supplied?

It may not actually be an issue that what they gave you back is "above" what you exported to them. You may have been low and they fixed it. Happens to me all the time because I do not try to get the levels correct. Thats their job. ( I do a rough mix only during the edit. The pros work with the "virgin" tracks and remix, EQ... blah, blah blah etc....

Difference for me is that we work with a standard reference tone 1000 hz @-20db. This is so we can compare the signal right through out our post prod workflow to broadcast TV. Playing this signal in our various suites always displays on the meters at - 20db when mixers are set to 0db (as it should).
