Post production JVC-HD100U(HDV) vs HGX200

Does anyone know which is less problematic to edit and work with. The HDV (JVC or Canon H1 camera) or the Panasonic HGX200 format? I can't decide which camera to buy. The JVC pro-HD or the Panasonic HGX200. The ease of post production will be a big deal maker or deal breaker. Appreciate any advice.

Since you're an FCP user, FCP is perhaps the single finest editing platform for HVX footage. It's very well done, and may get even better here soon.

For JVC HDV, currently FCP doesn't support the 24P mode from the JVC. I believe you can get around that by using some Lumiere plug-in.

The only way to deal with the JVC 24p mode with its 6 frame GOP is through LumiereHD or now HDVxDV. Essentially, you use either of these 2 apps to capture footage and conform to a .mov that FCP can understand, in any codec you like. Early on in the HDV evolution (pre FCP 5) I captured footage from a Z1 using both of these, transcoded to DVCPRO HD codec and then brought that footage into FCP 4.5. All I can say, Adam, is having worked with some P2 footage from the HVX, it is such a seemless operation in FCP 5.04 that I can hardly wait for the day when I can work exclusively in this mode.
