post houses - liking the HDV or no?

Reportedly, each of the three manufacturers (Sony, Canon, JVC) have designed an "HDV" camera with a unique set of technical requirements mandating that companys' deck to capture tapes into the editing system.

It seems like post production facilities accustomed to generally low equipment costs for this level of production will require three playback units in order to accomodate the various incarnations of HDV systems. This could be a real problem, I think.

What are your thoughts? Will post houses need to increase rates? Or, will rates be similiar to what prod. co's are paying currently for DV? Will this spark the "Firestore revolution?"

Any thoughts from anyone here who works in post?
