Post count(er)

Charli

cool little "title"
I no longer see the individual's post count on the left column near their user name.
I know it was there before because I remember I didn't have enough to vote
on the first fest back when. Is the post count gone or is it just on my end?

The post count is gone for a few reasons, not the least of which is that it seemed to encourage some people to make random/pointless/unproductive posts far more than would seemingly be necessary, just in an attempt to boost their post count -- for whatever reason, I'm not sure; whether they thought it would improve their credibility on the site or they were just racing for festival voting eligibility I don't know, but the end result was a bunch of posts clogging the system and not helping anyone.

We want the signal to noise ratio to improve. People should find good solid quality threads here, with good solid quality answers, not "myspace" style chatting. At least, that's the goal. There are plenty of "chat" sites on the web, we're here to provide the best instruction, techniques, feedback, and help that we can to the indie filmmaking and camera buying community.

I thought it would make me look cooler to you guys. :crybaby:

TC, the only thing that you could do that would make you look even cooler than you already are, is MAKE MORE FILMS. Y'all better enter DramaFest; I don't know that we've seen anything by you since... well, that egg thing...

It's all the south down here. I've been chastised for not using "y'all", which apparently is the proper term that must be used down here. Perhaps some of it is rubbing off? :)

I've lived in the south since 1992. Oklahoma and then Alabama, Texas, and AL again. I refuse to use the word Ya'll. I've caught myself using it once :)

Uh, oh. I'm making those useless posts you were speaking of :)
Off to watch Bootcamp Vol. 1. Woo Hoo.

I use it with pride.
I don't have an accent unless I'm tired, drunk, or just got back from visiting Texas.
But "ya'll" I like and use. It's part of where I'm from.
But so says a guy whose parents named him after a whiskey.

Also ya'll is not only a southern thing anymore but also an urban thing since rappers from the south started blowing up. I hear it from the african american youths on the subway frequently as in "Ya'll better recognize."

Y'all is one of those perfect words. There is nothing that quite replaces it.

Now, how 'bout a  y'all? :Drogar-BigGrin(DBG)

What's this?... a thread about useless posts without one from me?!!!

btw, I've never considered Oklahoma as being in "the South"... SouthWest maybe...

I'm only posting this to get an extra digit in my post count..... ;)

j/k

I'm happy that the counter was removed.... Things seem to be settling down more ever since that happened.

y'all is a perfectly cromulent word. remember, it's a contraction for "you" and "all" so it's spelled "y'all," not "ya'll."

see Horsefilms post for using the plural, y'all.

and if you drawl when you say "y'all," you might be a redneck.

i just wish people would stop saying "and whatnot."

When you go from D.C. and then Alaska, Oklahoma is the south :) But I did love where we lived there, nestled up against the wildlife refuge in the Wichita Mountains.

We'll, I'm from the South and we say two things: Ya'll and fixin'
that's right, we don't make movies, we fixin' to make movies, ya'll hear.
