post audio, dvd has audio buzz on playback

not sure if this is the right forum but anyways...

I have a dvd which i've produced/edited and on playback there is a buzz if the volume on the tv is cranked and it is paused,, i've even exported just the video file from my project and it still makes a rather unpleasant buzzing sound when the volume is turned up.

I color graded and adjusted the levels to the 0-100 IRE specs using a NTSC monitor. I also applied a broadcast filter on top of the entire sequence and set it at 100IRE max for luminance value to ensure there would be no issues with the white levels. I checked the vectorscope for possible over saturation that would cause interference with the audio signal....is there anything else that would be causing this? Maybe i'm reading the vectorscope wrong but all of the footage has the buzz, everything on the dvd which i exported and encoded buzzes on my tv. Is this an encoding error? A levels error? It's chaos I tell ya, but isn't it always?

cheers,

p.

I was going to say white was way over broadcast safe, but you checked that...Was there a buzz in the post phase (maybe the volume was never up enough to notice?)? Could there simply be a problem with the DVD and TV you are testing on (have you tried another machine?)?

100% is too white. You said you used the broadcast filter and set it to 100%, it needs to lower.
Also try a different disk. It might not be your disk it might be your system. Turning up the gain high enough is likely to cause buzz on many systems.

100IRE, not 100%

It was the tv, tested another dvd and cranked the volume when it was paused and the results were the same.

Quite correct, I had a brain fart. I will say that it is a rare audio chain that will not have noise when "cranked", usually because they have adjusted internally so "cranked" isn't all that cranked.
