Fisheye photos

Fisheye photos

Here's a fisheye shot...Nikon F4s, Ilford Delta 100 (I think...) don't remember the exact exposure. It's an 8mm Nikor lens with the internal filter set to 25A red. The brush strokes were scanned from a platinum print that I made of a similar photo. There's a whole series...www.ruckusarts.com

Some of my images

Hey folks. I'm a new DVXuser and a professional still photojournalist and commercial/editorial photographer by trade. I'm looking forward to making the foray into motion, and am just about to purchase a DVX next week (along with a shiny new Canon EOS 5D -- ahhhh 12 mpixel, full-frame goodness...).

Anyway, in the meatime, I'll post a few images for everyone to check out.

I'm really glad I ran across this thread; I've seen some really impressive stuff.

those alienbees look like they have a great quality of light. Are you pretty happy with them? I've never really used many sync flashes, more constant light sources for me. What's the main benefit for you?

Alien Bees

Alien Bees

The Bees are the best monlights on the market for the money in my opinion. They have good, high power, are built like tanks, and are very reasonably priced.

The benefits over contiuous lighting for stills are numerous. For one thing, It much easier to get a good cotrasty image due to the super high output and nerly instantaneous exposure time. At full power you can make a brightly ambient lit room go completley dark. And on a side note the flash duration of these lights actually gets shorter as power is increased: super helpful.

They are daylight balanced, unlike any continous light in this price class. The light modifiers are numerous and low-priced, and they have built-in optical slaves.

Really, with a few exceptions, strobes should always be used for stills and continuous should be reserved for motion (but like i said, with some exceptions). I will however say, using strobes does take a certain amount more of skill and you should really have a light meter whether your shooting digital or film.

A film user here. These were taken at an auto show near me. I dont believe I did any post work on these besides borders. These were scanned in so the quality obviously isnt the greatest. Shot on a Canon Rebel 2000 with a Canon 28-80.
