Portland: production work opportunities

My girlfriend might have to move to Portland for a residency, and I was curious if there are any people here that live/work in Portland. (I'm currently an editor for an A & E show. In addition, I shoot reality/documentary projects -- own full HD setup.
Basically I'm trying to get an idea of how Portland looks.


1) How's the job market for production work -- as well post-production work?

2) Besides Portland, are there any other cites in Oregon that offer production work?

3) Any input on what "big" production companies are located in Portland and its surrounding area?

Well, I'm in Seattle, so here's what I know being three hours north...

1) OR unemployment rate is over 11.7%... so you may have a rough time. I know a few TV stations have been laying off (a friend got laid off a few months ago), so TV work is tight. As far as production houses... I don't know. I just don't have that sort of knowledge.

2) Eugene and maybe Medford... but Eugene is a couple hours south, and Medford is almost to California.

3) Again, not enough knowledge of the market.
