PortaBrace CS-DV4 or Organizer?

I am looking at getting a new bag and have given up on the Cinebags because it is too big to carry on the plane. After reading the other posting on bags, I hear good things about the PortaBrace from you all, but I need help figuring out which one to get. [glow=green,2,300]Would you all recommend the PortaBrace DV4 or the Organizer? [/glow]
I would be using it to do a little travelling and would like to have it close at hand to do some quick "pull out the camera and shoot" kind of thing. I need it to hold the basics like a boom mic, batteries, tapes, wide angle lens, anamorphic lens, and a 25 foot mic cord. [glow=red,2,300]What would you all suggest between the two?[/glow]

Thanks!

Re: PortaBrace CS-DV4 or Organizer?

Used the DV-4 last week and preferred it to my pelican case. Big enough to carry everything including Matte box and jimmy box attached to camera. I don't normally like porta brace bags, but this one could keep up with me out in the field.

Re: PortaBrace CS-DV4 or Organizer?

I have the DV4M and just traveled with it a few weeks ago. It works good, I like it, however I'm thinking about removing the cradle and making a more custom insert that that camera can sit in. Maybe something out of a piece of foam. While the craddle works fine I'm still curious how the camera can sit in it with matte box attached. I have yet to purchase a matte box so I don't know, but from looking at it I can't imagine how.

I have another porta brace I use as a ditty kit, they are built to last, great bags.

Re: PortaBrace CS-DV4 or Organizer?

got a DV4 a short while ago and that's what it can hold:
- DVX 100A with ME66+Rycote Softie attached
- Rycote Pistol handgrip
- all the factory accessories (charger, remote control etc.)
- Anamorphic Adapter
- 3 Batteries
- Sennheiser Wireless Lav kit (transmitter, receiver, cables)
- 5 Tapes

so when I'm doing run and gun stuff I only have to grab the bag and go.
For more film-like stuff I use a varizoom bag that holds the mattebox,
rods, follow focus, filters etc.

Only when travelling I put everything in a Pelican 1620 case.

Re: PortaBrace CS-DV4 or Organizer?

I'm looking at www.kata-bags.com they have an interesting backpack for the DVX. I'm eyeing their BP-502 . I hate to see my shoulder lean towards my left after many years of sling shoulder carry bags, full of photo and video equipment.

They even allow a trolley insert to cart up the plane with you. Just like a steward.

Re: PortaBrace CS-DV4 or Organizer?

Thanks for the comments. Has anyone used the PortaBrace DV Organizer and how does it compare to the DV4?

Re: PortaBrace CS-DV4 or Organizer?

I am interested in getting the DV Organizer. I love to hear if anybody has used it and what they think of it.

Re: PortaBrace CS-DV4 or Organizer?

well i currently have the dv4 but i have waaay too much stuff i drag around and i'm going to be selling it and getting the dv organizer.

the only downside to the dv org. is that it isn't carry on size, but i have a hardigg storm case with foam cutouts that is carry-on.

for most people i would imagine the dv4 would be perfect, it served me well, but between wireless stuff and microphones i just carry too much stuff.

How much bigger is the Organizer compared the dv4?

Re: PortaBrace CS-DV4 or Organizer?

There was a post only a couple of weeks ago about this subject. I have pics of the DV organizer in the thread. Do a look up for bags or cases and you will find it.
