PORTABLE LIGHTS - what is best

I was looking at these umbrella style lights or those soft light-box lights for basic all-around lighting. I need something that easily folds down and packs well and small and at the same time gives me the greatest flexibility for lighting.

I noticed some places sell pro-setups - such as the pro-interview kit, (2 light,two boxes, two stands and a carrying bag). Any thoughts out there?

Is there a cheaper way to go by using other types of lights that are not as expensive as the B&H catalog shows?

Technical/mechanical skill is not my problem - I am just trying not to have to reinvent the wheel here.

Any guidance would be helpfull.
