Portable lighting solutions

I wouldn't say I'm in the market for lights, but I definitely have my eyes peeled for a good deal.

I need a portable solution with stands, gel filter & scrim capabilities, and most importantly, consistent light output. I would prefer that it came in a hard case.

I can only scrape together $1,000 now. Is there anything in that price range, or can I only play ball at $2,000?

I only have a china ball light and practicals at my disposal at this time.

I've been looking at the Lowel DV lighting kit. It's just over $1000.

What are you going to do with the lights?

Short films. I'd rather have a set of higher wattage tungsten fixtures to compensate for the 1/2-1 stop light loss of the M2.

a lot of people like Lowel's caselight. A fluorescent light that uses its case as its housing as well.

There's another brand of caselights as well... i don't remember the name.

Kino Diva.

I've got a couple of CaseLites, and they're pretty good but they're starting to look *very* expensive in comparison to some of the budget offerings from guys like www.coollights.biz.
