Portable DVD player

Just a crazy idea: has any of you used a portable dvd player as a filed monitor?? Is it even possible?? Just thought it would be cool to hook up 7" or 10" portable dvd player since it's easier to carry around than regular field monitor.  ;D ;D ;D

Re: Portable DVD player

7" works fine but they will only accept the composite video in so its not the greatest resolution, but does work fine.. you can switch your aspect ratio and view in 4:3 or 16:9 for anamorphic which is cool too. during downtime i used to just play cds/dvds on it..lol again though the resolution isnt that great from composite so it looks about the same as a large lcd flipout. but it does work great as a second monitor away from the cam for the DP or direrctor to look at if they are not the cam operator

We've had to ban them from shooting sites... so many of them bleed some much RF that the wireless mics were picking it up...

Re: Portable DVD player

yep you can use it providing you have the right cables and right jacks on the dvd player. I tried it at home and it worked. I have not used it on a shoot yet though.
