Hello,
I own a Glidetrack and now had the Pleasure to try the Cinselider from Kessler.. Good Sliders.. Both of them.. The Problem i have with those Systems is the Panning Part during Moves.. Because it will Shake a little bit.. There is some play and also my Compass 20 fluid Head Center of Gravity is to high on those Sliders..

So i am looking for something portable which will be good for those Panning Moves during Dolly Action...

My Budget is around 2000 Dollars..

thank you for you help..

I have never had issues as such. Can I ask how you mounted your Miller head to the sliders you were using? Also how were you supporting the sliders in question?

hi..

i am using 2 old manfrotto tripods with 501 heads.. for mounting the miller head i use an adapter from manfrotto.. 325n its called..

what kind of slider do you use?

thank you..

I have used a number of sliders but own a Pocket Dolly 2. I generally run it in light weight mode with the camera stripped down, an inexpensive flat base 501 head, and supported by a single tripod centered under the slider. Or in heavy duty mode with the camera decked out, a Vinten 100mm ball head riding in a high hat, and supported at each end of the slider by two tripods.

When you say you get shake during a pan, do you feel it's due to issues with the way your head is mounted, or due to support issues under the slider?
Just asking because I have used the Cineslider you mentioned and it was rock solid.

i have a pocket dolly and use a 503hdv head when i need to pan even just the smallest amount. not the best and i know the 503 isnt the best either. even though i have the crank on the PD i almost always move the camera with both hands cupping on each side of the head. perfect pans are unattainable but still usefull seeing a little human adjustment when viewing afterwards. for the price of the PD and 503 im not complaining at all but can see where this OP is coming from.

thanks for reading into my Question..

I think its mainly the Way my Fluid Head is mounted to the Slider.. Its very high up.. Also there seams to be a tiny amount of Play in the Bearings of the Sliders... logical there has to be some play ... without Play it wont move..

My Camerasetup with AF101, Nanoflash and Anton Bauer Battery is about 4 kg..

I think my problem would be solved if i can get the Center of Gravity of my Fluid Head down.. With the Cineslider there is a Hole in the middle.. If i would make it a bit bigger i could just mount my Fluid Head directly to the Slider without Adapter.. I already tried the length of my Headscrew and it would work perfect.. I just would have to buy a Femalescrew for the Head for mounting it .

but messing with such an expensive Piece of Equipment is tricky...

yep, keeping things perfectly centered is essential of course. sliding when not centered correctly is not fluid anymore for sure and you feel friction and rubbing quickly. i either use an EX1 (stock) or a 5D with a small to medium lens mounted. if you can go without panning is the best option. when im shooting a singer for a music video for instance i do want to keep the subject in the same part of the frame and it isnt easy to do. its not perfect but acceptable for the few dollars i have in the rig & head.
