Portable battery powered lighting for night shoot

Hi Everyone,

I'm shooting a short film in Russia, most of the shots will be taken at night on the street and some from inside a car. I only really want to light peoples faces in the film and try and use available light in the street for the scenes. I want the picture to have High Contrast with the minimum of lighting. Also most of the shots will be either handheld or using a steadicam.

There will only be a few people on set so we need to be light weight and battery powered.

I have seen several different lights that can attach to the camera and probably also be handheld. I have listed a few below, but would really like any suggestions as to whether this is the sort of lighting I should get, if not any suggestions and if so, any recommendations as to what brand and model would be good.

Also my budget is approximately £250 or $500.

Thank you for any replies!

I wouldn't buy the Ianiro - it looks just like the Ianiro "Divino" - its reflector is too small. The output is very spotted, even in flood (forget using a wide angle, it's even too spotted for a standard lens). Also the output from a 20W (or 35W which it also takes without damage) is definitely lower than from a lamp with a larger reflector.

If you need a real lightweight and don't need a dimmer or focussing, the Bebop Lux-DV is pretty nice. Just make sure you get the very wide angle bulbs for it (60° I think, most reflector bulbs are 38° only which is much too narrow).
