I'm looking for a good flood light to do a simple ext shot at night. Maybe simulate moon light. Battery and outlet optional. I'm looking through the site but appreciate any help finding more information.
After reading users' impressions here, I bought a Comer 1800 LED a couple weeks ago and so far am very happy with it. I used it to add some ambient light to a large group outside at night, not even taking the fader past halfway. A $40 camcorder-type battery powers it for 3 hours at full power, about 6 at half power. The $17 adapter to mount the light on a standard light stand is a must. I bought it mostly for air travel gigs, but this could forever change how I light as a backlight or fill, maybe even an occasional keylight. It's at lacolorshop.com
The battery I bought with the light is their generic version of Sony's NP-F970. I did tests before using it and it powered the light for exactly 3 hrs. at full power. I also got their NP-F770 equivalent which ran exactly 2 hrs. full and 4 hrs. with the dimmer halfway. The only downside so far is the charger they include takes 8-10 hours to fully charge a battery, so I'm looking for alternative fast chargers out there.
I have had the same satisfcation as BMX with the COMER, and I have found that it works fine outside. For batteries, use NP-F970 Sony compatible rechargable batteries http://lacolorshop.com/products/item.asp?id=NPF970
