Where is YOUR bottleneck?
I'm new to dvxuser and have learned a great deal over the past two weeks of reading hundreds of messages. Thanks to everyone for the input that makes this site so useful. I plan on purchasing an HVX-200 in the next week or so.
I've seen several messages in which people are discussing bottleneck and speed issues such as hard drive RPM issues, PCMCIA Vs. Express Card, etc. so I thought it was appropriate that I share something that I created a few years ago.
I have attached an Excel spreadsheet that lists TONS of information relating to port types and device types and their respective speeds/bandwidth etc. This is helpful to determine where the bottlenecks are likely to show up on a particular system.
I started creating it several years ago and would periodically update it...other than a few changes today, I haven't updated it in about 3 years. Hopefully, you guys find it useful and can make any corrections/updates that you see fit.
The first page of the spreadsheet is a simple intro.
The second page is the meat of the spreadsheet.
The other pages are miscellaneous and incomplete benchmarks compiled over the years by myself and a few friends.
I encourage you to update the spreadsheet (please highlight any changes) and then email it back to me so that I can put it in the master. If you update it, please put your information in the Updates section (page 3).
