Hey guys,

I was wondering why popping noises occur when I import them into the FCP timeline. When I was working with Adobe Premiere, I had no such occurance. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Always been like that for FCP

Its because MP3's are compressed. I can't remember the technical reasons behind why their compression creates the pops in FCP, but I remember this as being a long time thing with FCP. Its not too work around it though. Just fire all your mp3s into iTunes, set iTunes to create AIFF or WAV files instead of mp3s and then voila, when you import the mp3s they'll get added to the library as AIFF/WAVs.

cheers.

Have a look at the Khz of your file (mp3 or WAV or whatever) and also of your other audio in the timeline. Both have to be either 48.000 or 44.100 KHZ. Make a choice and convert your music file, this should solve the problem! Good luck!

FCP does not officially support MP3 sound files. This has always been. Export your MP3 file from FCP as an AIFF. Re-import that file and use it. If you have a lot of them, use the Batch Export. But FCP won't play MP3's very well.

iTunes can do AIFF, WAV, ACC (the best), Apple Lossless, MP3. I think there's some licensing issues with Apple and the recording industry, so they crippled MP3 across the system. Notice QTPro has no MP3 export option.

And never attempt to use MP3 files in FCP, they just won't ever play properly.
