Okay folks, this may be splitting hairs, but I'm getting varied opinions on the two fonts I've tested out & like for different reasons ... so I thought I'd throw a poll out to the trusted DVXuser crowd.

This is for the final poster(s) for our full 23 minute cut of SPARROW.

On the left hand side of the page, as you scroll down, you'll see six small posters (3 sets) ... the top one in each set is with Spirit Medium font ... the bottom in each set is with Dark Crystal.

Which one do you like better & why? (I can't decide) Or is there a different one you'd suggest altogether?

Thanks in advance!!

BTW, the film is a dark romantic tragedy ... influenced by THE CROW and UNDERWORLD.

I'm assuming Spirit is the first poster in each set. Dark Crystal just does not fit at all IMO. Spirit is a cool font to go with, don't go crazy on this subject though. It's all personal preference to you mostly...

Spirit, if the choice is between the two.

But neither of them are easy to read when vertical.

And I'm not a fan of all-caps.

No suggestions as to other fonts. Sorry. Never was much good at font stuff. :)

Thanks guys ... so far it's 5 to 3 in Spirit's favor ... interesting how none of the three that voted for Dark Crystal have commented as to why, while the Spirit crowd has a definite opinion.

BTW, while the smaller font in Dark Crystal is obviously harder to read, what about the MAIN TITLE? Still the same issue? I could always use a different font for the tag lines ... though I get concerned about having 3 different fonts going on in the same graphic/page as well.

I would add my comments, but I can't access "myspace" accounts from work...it is blocked by our web filters.

I like the font used in your signature banner...is that one of the two in question?

I've made them ... just taking photos from our onset photographers, and in the case of the middle one I worked it up in photoshop to make it darker & a bit of a sketch look ... otherwise the 1st & 3rd are stock (untouched) photos.

The final posters will be VERY similar, just won't have the "coming soon" at the bottom, and will likely have some final CC.

Yeah, Brandon, one of these will likely be on the front cover of the DVD as well ... more than likely the first one, but I'm not sure. There are other posters up at www.sparrow-themovie.com/promo/posters ... I had just used these three as quick samples. I'll eventually have everything in that folder replaced with the finals, including desktop backgrounds (some killer photos that work better in landscape than portrait for the posters).

if its anything to ya... I like the poster with the tatoo of the sparrow on her chest the best... I think that would make a sweet DVD case cover.

Following up my original question and your reply:

Being that you're going to distribute these en mass, do you think it would benefit you in any way to pay for a designer's services to create the best looking cover art possible for you?

Not attacking you or anything, just thinking about how it might be approached.

Sure, if I had the budget for it. :) I'm incredibly tapped out prior to this fall, so it's whatever I can do on my own, unless someone's simply wanting copy/credit.

Oh okay. I understand that completely. There might be a few people on the boards. I'm no poster designer, as well.

Totally understand ya, though. Thanks for filling me in.
