Polarizer Filter Questions

Hey guys,

I had a few quick questions.

I have a shoot coming up where I will be shooting through a car windshield (outside --> in) and I was thinking that a Polarized Filter would help to reduce glare. Would I be correct?

Also, how many filters can I get on the Lens w/o a vignette?

Finally, does anyone have any w/, w/o comparisons, especially with sky and glare I might be able to look at?

Thanks as always. :dankk2:

PS. These is what I am looking at.

Polas only work at full strength at 90 degrees from the light source so they work best on exteriors at high noon. Polas usually will take up about a stop and a half to two stops of light so they are less useful for interiors. The less or more the angle from the 90 degree source to the pola, the less the polarizing effect will be apparent.

A good way to minimize reflections on a car windhsield is a 4x4 or 6x2 knife blade solid as a topper overhanging the roof. But you had better have some grips that know how to rig this safely and securely. A pola could help or not depending on the time of day you are shooting and what your primary light sources will be (HMIs or the sun?)

The amount of filters you can use without vignetting is dependent on a multitude of factors.

1. What size and thickness of filters?
2. How are the filters mounterd on the camera?
3. What type and focal length of lens?
