polarising filters…

I’ve had a couple of these for years and they fit all my lenses but I’ve only really used them for getting rid of reflections in glass in specific shots.

I know there are some people who use them whenever they’re outside.

I’ve been experimenting with them all week but can’t really decide whether I like the effect or not. Sometimes I really dig the blue cast and blowing out on skin or leaves or table tops. I might use them on super super sunny harsh days… maybe

They seem to flatten out the light and make things boring a lot of the time. i supose cine gammas have a similar effect..

What do you guys think? what are your theories on polarising filters? when tou use them/when not to?

I use a 4X4 polarizing filter in my mattebox when I'm outside. I really like the look. It helps with the sky color and adds to the contrast. The only problem I have with using it in a mattebox is sometimes reflections hit the filter and you can see them in the video. I just posted some test footage for the SGBlade w/ROTOrazor 2 in another thread (http://www.dvxuser.com/V6/showthread.php?p=1553792#post1553792). There are some scenes shooting into the sun where you can clearly see reflections on the filter. Other than that, I love the look a polarizing filter provides. Two thumbs up!:thumbup:
