Podcast encoding

I've got a bunch of 16:9 videos that I need to turn into podcasts but for whatever reason when I export out of FCP it works in iTunes just fine but won't on the iPod. I'm using the mp4 file extension and when I do a 4:3 aspect ratio it works but not when it's 16:9. Does anyone know the problem?

Use the iPod preset when you export.

Save your FCP project as a self-contained QT file.
Open in QT Player, export using the iPod preset.
Done.
