Just got an email with an offer on SpiceMASTER and CreativEase.

Worth the bother?

(The expense is not an issue. I'm independently wealthy...er...I mean I have credit cards. That's the same thing, right?)

Love Spicemaster and Creative Ease. I use them both all the time. Not only do you get great transitions and FX treatments but Creative Ease adds some cool title effects. Best for you to do would be to download it and give it a try.

Grasshopper > could you just name a few transitions/video effects that come in the package which you would label as professional ? Ive heard that spicemaster has more cheesy effects than pro. But thats only what ive heard. Would just like to have your feedback.

Looking at them, I probably wouldn't use them for a film.

A wedding, maybe. But I don't do weddings. :)

On the other hand, what I was thinking, was DVD menus. Fancy-schmancy ones...

I personally find these kinds of things a waste of money. A good reason for a fanciful transition is rare, and even when there's a good reason, less is still more.

Ultimate S has some decent film looks templates and their multicam feature is useful.

Exactly David > I hate those transitions that have boxes and boxes and kaledescopic effects. Apt for birthday videos and private parties. Whose ever seen a movie use transitions like that. The more pro transitions can be created wthin vegas by animating video effects over time and customizing transiions to suit oneself. SUBTLE is the keyword here i guess. A transition should take you from one scene to the other without drawing attention away from the story.

David -

Sorry for being late getting back to you. I have been running around like mad these last few days. In addition to Spicemaster, I also have Ultimate S and Heroglyph. I use all three. Like all transitions, they can be overdone I don't care what program you use. I think Spicemaster has some very nice effects if you are wanting to do some soft dreamlike transitions. Spicemaster has a fx called Rise/Shine that I have used often on titles when I am in a hurry. It is a quick way to punch up titles.

As you can see, everyone has an opinion. It is really your call to download the trial version(s) and see if they work for you. Vegas already contains great transitions as far as I am concerned. The other ones are just icing on the cake.

Have a great day.
