Plugging a switchable XLR attenuator straight into Mixpre outs?

Hey everyone. I bought two switchable -10,-15,-25db XLR attenuator pads to plug in between my Mixpre and my ZoomH4N using XLR cables. My question is, can I plug the attenuator pads straight into the Mixpre outs and plug the 25 foot XLR cables into the attenuator pads? So, my hookup would look like this:

Mixpre XLR Left and Right outs> Attenuator Pads> XLR cables> Zoom H4N XLR Left and Right inputs

????

Simple answer yes.

Personally I find that adjustable attenuator a waste.
Its rare that you'd need a -15 or a -25 in the real world.

Getting a -10 (good for dropping balanced "pro" line level to unbalanced "consumer" line level)
and a -40 (drop line level to mic level)
would probably have been more useful over time.

That being said, its obviously too late so the simple answer to your
original question is yes you can do that.

I need a set of attenuators. Will try Radio Shack or Guitar Center. I wondered about the switchables vs the fixed values. Thanks
