pls help!: FCP vs FCE

Would appreciate definite answer: Can I use FCE instead of FCP with DVX100A in progressive mode, if final product is only DVD and not film? Do I gain any PQ if I use FCP for this? Thanks!

As far as I understand (anyone jump if I am wrong) but FCE has the same core as FCP, in fact you can upgrade your FCE to FCP. The only difference is that FCE does not have the workhorse "professional" goddies etc that FCP has. As far as the 24 capture you should not worry since the DVX100 is exporting 30 through firewire, so as long as you stay that way you should be fine. Just to let you know I have captured video using iMovie from my DVX and have turned just fine!

Express does not support 24fps pulldown removal or 24fps timelines.
You can still shoot 24fps but use 24p, not 24pa. You can edit it at 29.97 (normal video). It will still have the look of 24fps video. If you want to go to film or make a pure 24fps DVD then you will need Final Cut Pro (and DVD Studio Pro)

FCE does not export in 24p. it does not edit in 24p. it will not remove pulldown in any way.
