Please tell me if I am doing this right...

I have 45 minutes of continuous footage shot with two cameras and I am editing it as a multi-cam shoot. What I did was capture the tapes into Premiere and I synced up the audio to match the footage. We probably had a one second delay between each camera as we did not hit "record" at the EXACT same moment, so all I did was trim one second off of one of the tapes and everything synced up fine. Now, I don't know if there is a more proper way to swap between footage from both cameras, but this is what I do:

I have two video timelines and one for audio. I use the razor tool and cut at the designated section on one of the video timelines and right below on the second timeline, I make sure to cut at the exact same spot. I then delete the upper section I just cut and replace it with the second timeline.

Is this the proper procedure?

The newer versions of Premiere have a function for multicam editing. The simple way to do it, put both tracks into one sequence and sync them up. Then, create a second sequence and put the first sequence into it. Right click on the first sequence and you should see something to the effect of multi-camera... click on that, and click on "Enable".

Next, go up to "Window" along the top menu of Premiere, and from the drop down menu click on "Multi Camera Window". This is where it get's slick. The window that pops up should have two little windows... one for each track... and a bigger program window. At this point, simply press play, and every time you want to switch to a different camera, just click it's window in the MC Window. Those cuts will show up in the second sequence. You can go back later on and add transitions or trim up cuts.

You can do this for four cameras, but there are work arounds for more. For more info, search multi-cam in the help menu.
