here are some criticisms.
- put reaction shots of the judges in during the whole performance, they came too late.
- freddy mercury guy's acting was not convincing around the start of the performance (judges would help mask)
- same with the bassist
overall, the reason I did not like it was because it was poorly acted, whether that be part of the films concept or not, you don't want to watch people perform poorly. you didn't adequately exemplify the style of Queen era music videos & performance to a degree to create an element of pastiche, which I feel was the main reason for the video in the first place. This same idea goes along with the American Idol/Talent Show references. I felt like you were simply referring to other texts/icons (idol, queen, simon) as opposed to occupying their stylistic realms and creating a meaningful discourse between the two.
for me, it was missing a spine. there was nothing that tied the piece together for me, the events simply happened.
no hard feelings man, I see this is your first post too, I'm not trying to flame you. I just saw this on the header for "news" on the main forum page. This thread does not belong here, and on top of it all it was also for self advertisement. regardless, please don't just disregard this - consider these things that you need to work on, because these issues only become more apparent and difficult to deal with when you are working with narratives, etc.
