please help with my playback problem

hello all-

i am getting rather frustrated with final cut pro (version 5.0.4). when i try and play my video back through the dvx (as a media converter to a tv monitor) it just won't work. only one frame will play through both the camera and the tv. when i stop playback, the last frame will come through and show up on the monitor. it plays back fine on the computer monitor. my external video is on all frames, my video playback is on apple firewire ntsc. final cut recognizes the camera because i just captured fine, and it says that the camera is the ag-dvx100a. i've never had this problem before, and it's driving me insane.

Sounds like your system is getting overloaded. What Mac are you using, how much RAM, what is your hard drive configuration. These all determine how well the playback will be.

Also, go under the FCP menu to Video/Audio settings, make sure your playback prefs look right.
