Marty,

The problem was pretty obvious when I could see the screen in 720. Your charger isn't compatible with those batteries. Those batteries are Hytron 50s, which are NiMH (Nickel Metal Hydride). They are a slightly more modern chemistry than NiCad (which would be a ProPac, Proformer, or Trimpac in Anton Bauer terms). Anton Bauer chargers are all smart chargers, meaning that they use the extra pins on the battery to communicate with circuitry inside the battery to ensure that the battery is charging properly, stop charging when the battery is full, and prevent the battery from overheating. In your case, your charger is too old or does not have the right firmware installed, and it is not recognizing the Hytrons (note that it says "NICAD" where it should, on a more modern charger, say the name and type of the battery). Therefore it is just throwing voltage at the batteries, and when they are not responding as a NiCad would, it is giving you an error to let you know there's a problem. Letting them sit on there might be dangerous - not sure exactly what the charger's doing, but it certainly isn't good for the batteries.

Many older chargers had this issue, and many cannot be updated. You may want to contact Anton Bauer support and ask them if any newer firmware is available for your charger, but it may be more economical to buy a newer charger on eBay or the likes.
