Please help with external preview issues

I'm about to go balistic here. It's Monday, I'm ready to start cutting 4 hours of a client's footage, and Premiere is screwing with me. I have PP2, running s-vid out into a nice plasma display, and it has no problem previewing any project- except this new one. Playback settings aren't allowing me to change monitors either, just DV720x486 or None.

What am I missing here?

This really has me stumped. There should be no reason for this project to not preview to an external monitor. The video card is set up with a cloned desktop, show video full screen on a 1240x768 flat screen. S-vid out from card to monitor. All my other projects are working, so why not this one? The only difference is this is a 4:3 SD project, as opposed to 720 HDV. That shouldnt matter, right?

So, you have dual monitors (cloned) and then a 3rd plasma monitor? If the video card is a dual out, you can only work with a max of 2 outs at the same time. (But I'm sure you already knew that) Are you working in SD or HDV?

Actually, I have one desktop monitor, and one flat panel. This project is SD 4:3. and the rest of what I've done has been HDV. Like I said, they all preview fine, just like they should. But not this project. I know it's something very trivial and stupid, but that's the way it usually works, right?

And you have a dual out video card where one out goes to the reg desktop monitor and the other out to the flat panel right? Then you use premiere on the one monitor and the other monitor displays your program view fullscreen right?

I've found that doing that ( at least on my setup ) when you start a new project, (and Im running Pro 2.0) You start a new project, Then in the presets, you select your setting (lets say Standard 48kHz) under DV-NTSC. then click the Custom Settings tab.
Click the Playback settings button and on that pop up window that shows up select your second monitor (flatpanel) under External device. That will allow me to view things just the way you are saying you want it.

Does that help any? or you still can't preview it? You have to select that at the start of the project, otherwise you can't seem to select it after the fact in the prefs menu.

That seems to done it. I opened a new project, and used the custom setting. Then, I just imported the existing project. Normally, I just have to enable the extended desktop, then enable the external monitor in PP2. This time, it just wasn't showing the correct monitor.

Thanks a lot, and Merry (Insert Holiday Here)!
