Please Help!!! Traveling Down a Road in AE....

I've got an idea that a client and I talked about but I'm not sure where to start. I'll explain it and what I'm planning to do, please let me know if I'm heading in the right direction on this.

The idea is to be traveling down a road in AE using an animated camera. Then stop and look over at a billboard sign. At that time, we'll flash to white and go full frame with video of a horse park thats advertised on the sign. Then we'll flash to white again and appear traveling back on the road and stop at another sign, repeating this process 4 times.

He wants it to be simple and nice but not chessy. The road will be a psd/tiff layer and it will sit on a psd/tiff of a map. (the map will act as the ground, I guess.) The skyline will just be a tiff or a video. Then we'll sit different billboards in 3d space and animate the camera to move towards them.

I just wanted to see how some of you guys would tackle this idea and if I'm headed in the right direction. Hopefully I haven't bitten off more than I can chew!! lol
Thanks ahead of time.

You might be able to use Bryce to create the landscape, if you have it. Because with a flat 2D as a ground I think it would look cheesy...unless by map you mean literal map, like a road map. Then I think I understand what you are going at.

I don't see why that wouldn't work. The 3D space will be extremely expansive though. I might take a look at this myself and see. I am curious now, I must admit.

if off the road you have trees or buildings and stuff, it would be hard to make it look good without making those objects 3d. 2d trees would look cheesy....but if you are using an actual map as the ground or a desert scene, it could work. Just plan on lots of render time.
