Please Help this little lady!!

I am trying to buy a present for my bf who has a DVX 100a. He had a crane built and mentioned that he needed a remote control zoom. I've been looking on the web and all I can find are the Stealth DVX and the RockDVX. I don't want to but the wrong item, and since I'm not that handy I can't build one so someone please help me.

Depends on your budget, of course. The Manfrotto 522p is getting good reviews, as does the Zoe DVX controller.

Make sure you get one that's specifically designed for the DVX, and not for LANC. They look the same, and most controllers are probably designed for both, but the DVX doesn't use LANC so you have to get a DVX-specific controller.

Call Rush at www.evsonline.com and he'll walk you through it to make sure you get the best one.

If the intention is that he wants to use this for the Crane he's building, then you might want to get one with a very long cord. I know that some of then have removable mini-plugs that can take various cable sizes, which would be handy for a crane, and then a tripod as you can change the cable length...

Hey little lady, just 2cents worth of advice, I use the Manfrotto control which is a handle that replaces the existing tripod handle. It is good but someitmes I wish I had purchased one that you can attach to variuos other handles. Transferability is something your guy would probably appreciate. I think Manfrotto makes a smaller more transferable controler, and Zoe also makes one. Also, if he is going to use it with a crane get the extension cord. Hope this helps.

No kidding. My wife already broke the newsthat I'm NOT getting my new tripod for Christmas. Some crap about food on the table, clothes for the kids...doesn't she know Christmas is about ME!
