Ive been searching, nothing great as yet. Does anyone know an audio stock site that has high quality clips - specifically with some cars sounds. Spinning wheels / hard breaking / revving engine whilst driving. I am happy to pay for them, just need to find them.

Cheers

Noel

You also should narrow your search to the specific cars you want coverage on. Just searching for "car" isn't nec. going to get you what you want. Anyone who records cars will have the sounds cataloged by the car more than the "type" of sound.

Also you need to use the right words. Peel, or peelie or peelout are often used for a screechy car away. Chirp, squeal, doughnuts, skid would also be words that might turn up that kind of sound. "Formula D" should also bring up lots of that kind of stuff.

But I would first go for the type of car. A "rev" for a tractor isn't going to do you much good.

You could also go to THIS SITE and look at the Hollywood Edge CAR CHASE SCENE SET. It's around $200 US though and then there is shipping which might be $$$$$

American car horns are (were) a fifth a part so two square waves a fifth apart should get you close to where you want to be. We looked all over the place for a bus forn that sounded right for Fly Away Home. They didn't like anything we recorded but they liked the one I made with a Yamaha DX100 (micro synth) and that is what ended up in the film. We just had to worldize it a bit.
