please help me prioritize

ok my dvx100a & tiffen 72mm uv haze filter are going to be shipped out on monday. i need to make a list of priorities. this is what i was thinking of so far, #'ed in the order that i feel is most important.

1. pelican hard case 1600 or 1550 (can't really decide)
2. tripod (can someone suggest one? please)
3. dvrig pro (b/c i will be shooting lots of concerts/doc style epks/music videos/.....)

can someone help me out? feel free to list any other accessories.

i have access to lights and mics. (hey that kinda rhymed)

First things first. Call early Monday morning and exchange that Tiffen UV filter for one that is multi-coated. I don't believe any of the Tiffen UV filters are multi-coated. Try a B+W, Schneider or other high-end glass with multi-coating often designated by the letters MC incorporated into the filter model number

What is your budget for a tripod, Aaron?.

on the tripod ill spend around $500-$600.

Bogen 503 head. Then pick legs that work for you as far as weiht/stability/portability. If you get legs without a bowl leveller, spend the extra 70 clams on the one that bogen makes to add on between your legs and the head (I use 3246 legs cuz I like the geared column)

I second Terry's comment on the B+W/Schneider route.

For sticks, pick up a 503 head / 525 sticks combo. Great rig, and it's on special at B&H right now:

have anyone had any experience w/ the pelican1600? im choosing to go big, b/c im gonna be adding a mattebox on later, so i will need the space.

make sure you have a dedicated crew and some skills! Not trying to say you don't have skills. Learn how to work with minimal stuff. It makes you more creative! Peace!
