I would like to make the switch to Final Cut Pro for my editing (from Premiere). I haven't owned an Apple in over 10 years. However I will be shooting a feature in HD on the Canon HV20 and I've found that Premiere is both too quirky to edit a full feature on and doesn't handle large projects well. Hence my desire for FCP.
So, what I'm looking for is the best deal I can get on either a new/used system that will edit HD. I don't care how old it is or where I get it from. G5? G4? I don't care. As long as it has plenty of hard drive space (or expansion options) and plenty of ram (or expansion space for ram). I don't need the latest thing. Where I should look for the system as well as where I should look for the aftermarket add-ons will be very helpful. How much should I expect to pay? (btw - I already have the monitor. I just need the computer) The more detail the better.
I figure the people in this forum know as much about where to find the deals as anyone on the web. Thanks in advance for your replies.
