Please help me choose a logo.

We are looking to redesign our logo (we will tackle the website after that).

We have narrowed down the logo to 2 designs that we really like, but they are very different from each other.

I would love to hear what you think of each logo and see which one is best at conveying our message (no matter how subtle or overt).

One more thing, we have not chosen a typeface for the font yet. What you see is simply a placeholder. We will settle on a font after choosing the graphic design.

Here are the 2 options:

Thanks a lot,

I'm not real good at logo's, too dumb most times to understand the hidden graphical message, and here again I face the same problem. If I had to choose between them though for looks only, I'd go with the second one as the first looks suicidal or something to me. Hope this helps, but deep down I know it won't.

but what does a utility blade have to do with you and your style of filmmaking?

I choose the second one. obscure. more of an identity than an object. and you can animate it being sketched in. whereas the blade is a one trick pony reveal.

unless of course, you can connect yourself and your company to a utility blade.

And just a suggestion. Invert these and try them white on black and make sure you still like them.

I agree with the big kahuna (antOmic). The 2nd is the way to go. The first looks like a logo for an 80's heavy metal band or a modern day crack house. :) The second, although simplistic and childlike in it's look, has more versatility and meaning. Let us know what you decide. Good luck!

I vote for the second one. You don't want customers to think you're in the shaving/cutting business.

I vote second- more uniformed and visually easy. Beyond the suicidal look of number one the image is heavy to the right and high which draws to much attention from the name of the company. Especially if there is no direct connection from the image to the name.
just 2 cents

Thanks for all of the opinions.

Creating a good logo is much harder than I ever imagined.

While we have gone through many designs to narrow it down to these two, after much thought and feedback we have decided to go back to the drawing board.

We are trying to be more inventive in coming up with imagery that works with our name "Off Stage Films" and means something to us.

Thanks again and I will be sure to share with you all what we come up with,

Chris

I like the first one. Sorry to be contrary.

I like the sketchy style of the second one, but the graphic says nothing to me. The first one is very clean and bold and makes a statement.
