Please HELP......................

Hello,

Lately I have bought a new camera (the Sony EX3) and I have updated my Premier Pro CS3 To the CS4... Unfortunately when I'm editing in HD (1080 25p) it's a nightmare... rendering is super slow and even if I select more than one clip the system crashes.

My editing procedure normally would be extract manually the MP4's from the BPAV Folder (One by one) and insert them into my NLE (Premier). Could it be that I need to compress the files to MXF using the SONY application first? I wish to avoid compression (to get the best image possible).

Or could it be that I'm working on a non robust system:
Dell Vostro 1700 - 4GB Ram - 500GB Hard drive - 256MB NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT.

Sorry I just forgot that I have upgraded the OS... Im using the Windows 7 (64 Bit) but im still using the Premiere in 32 Bit.

Ok,

Well, your system is simply not up to the current Job its doing.

Even with editing hardware, your system can only do SD work or 720 in HD. Once you go 1080 and even using an intermediate codec, it will sputter.

I was barely editing 720P from my JVC hd200 in a Core 2 quad with 4 gig RAM.

You would need to update significantly your PC hardware.

an i5 750 is a cheaper upgrade, just get a motherboard that will allow you to overclock.
put 8gig of ram, a decent nvidia chip GPU card with at least 1gig ram. Another HDD for footage, don't use the HDD where your OS is for storing your project and Video files.

What do you suggest as a hardware upgrade? or on what should I focus: ram, hard disc, video card, processor?

Thanks for your help.... I will be looking forward for my new PC then... what about the new 12 Core MAC?

macs are over rated. I"m a PC guy thats loves to assemble and tweak under the hood.
PCs running XP with sp2, XP 64bit and lately win7 have been pretty stable already.

You can cheaply grow with your investment in a PC.
