Please let me know. I do not have a monitor.
The only was I know is to do a capture and reply in FCP .. but this is not really what I want

Thank you alll

I'm not sure what you are asking. A G4 wouldn't have a monitor unless you connected one, so are you asking to just have a monitor to view your footage while shooting, or are you asking to capture straight to a computer?

michelle, i'm chasing you all over the place. it is doable but only with a NLE and the delay on the comp is going to be HORRIBLE, not to mention the resolution. also, if you are using FCP to stream the footage as a monitor, you may have to blow up the capture window (which i believe is the only way you could use the laptop as a monitor). the picture isn't going to look good and depending on what you are shooting (for instance, an action sequence), i wouldn't use it.

what i would do is get a TV and calibrate it to some color bars. it should have a better picture. but i'm guessing you are asking if you could do this on your laptop because you don't have a power source for the tv.

if you are going to use your laptop, just hook up the firewire between the DVX and the computer and view the footage by going to capture in FCP or the like. you won't be actually capturing unless you want to, but the footage will be shown in the capture window.

do you understand?

Thanks Justin --
Yes I got it ..
You are rright the resolution is not good at all .. But better than nothing.
Thanks for the chase :)
Hope it was as fun for you as me :)
Have a great weekened

FCP's capture window can display waveform and vectorscope, so there you have it, a little bonus to go with your no so useful image frame...

-But that isn't really a cinematograhy question. Maybe you'd get better answers posting this in the technical forum...
