Hi to all

After searching the forums about wireless lavs i still have couple of question open.

I cant decide on AT 1080 or the G2. Lectros are bit to expensive now.
Since I´m in Namibia there is allmost no radio traffic nor TV (1 channel! + DSTV).

There is no specification on range, so what is the range of those units?
Is the problem of switching noise in the ATs in every unit?, has it been corrected by the manufacturer?.

Are those units "profi" enough?. We have couple of major movies here in Namibia in the next year so I dont want to sit there with toys.

At the moment I am thinking to get 3 g2 with sanken mics, but the AT still looks quite impressive.

Thank you for your time guys

g2 are cool systems - i live in south africa and have been using them on a lot of reality tv shows in the last year because they are cheap enough that if i put them in scary situations and break them i dont cry, but they can still get the job done. we used g2 on some shows you might have seen in the last year on dstv like "the loot" and "the cut", and also the upcoming series "stand up zambia", as well as rock reality/magazine series "amp".

BUT

when you say "major movies" the g2 moves from being a cool little solution to exactly what you said - a toy. for anything up to medium budget narrative, i'd say g2 is alright, especially when you add a cos11 lav to it, but anything "major" and you're entering the lectro/zaxcom territory.

i used lectro on some shows you might have seen on dstv this year "muvhango" as well as "angels song" and a couple others. the difference is noticable - im just listing these shows in case you've seen them and could make a comparison in terms of results.

hi timapter
sorry, i just came back from 3 week shoot, so couldnt reply.
Ya, lectros.... It looks like I have to spend on them.
I didnt see the shows you have mentioned.
I guess for know I´ll go with g2, when a big movie comes, I can still upgrade.

Thanks for your help
