FWIW...

Just added a new tutorial this one on creating the effect of a single color in a black and white film. Similar to SinCity, Shindler's List and the movie Pleasantville.

For some reason this one takes a bit -- BIG bit to load. Sorry bout that.

For those of you who subscribed, it should be in your iTunes podcast subscriptions now.

Enjoy.

1) Pleasantville Effect
2) Multi Aspect Editing
3) Time Remap (simple intro)
4) Cutting to the Beat
5) Creating a GunSight in FCP

Thanks for the Tutorials...very cool stuff. I can't view the Time Remap one for some reason. Think maybe it's the codec. All the others use AAC, h264, Time remap tutorial only uses AAC. I use a mac so I shouldn't have a problem. hmmm ;)

That is ODD!!! I'm having problems with it too.

I'll double check it and maybe reload.

HOWEVER -- http://www.proapptips.com/proapptipsvideotutorials/Video_Tutorials.html

Has them mirrored. Everything is on a different server... and I just tried that one's TimeRemap and it works.

That one works fine. Thanks for the tutorials CaptMench, very cool of you to take the time to make them. Much appreciated :)

Ok -- it works again on my site.

Again, you guys are welcome. Any ideas for new ones, I'll take them.

that's awesome, captainmench, but i think you should call it the "rumble fish effect tutorial." :)

haha --

I would if the 30 people a day I see asking for this called it that!!

Did anyone see Rumble Fish? And that was 15 years prior to Pleasantville!!

I'm glad people are finding use for these little podcasts. Been trying to just keep them as answer the questions you find most often asked across boards... plus trying to throw in a few other shortcuts or helpful tips along the way.

Very helpful and easy to follow. I like how I can hear kids yelling in the background, with you going 'just hold on buddy, Daddy's working'

Is there anyway you can layer the effect so that you can block two colors??? I am working on this project and just kind of diddling around and found this super helpful!!!! I want to try this on the clip I am playing with but the logo I am working with is two solid colors and I can't seem to get them to both block out...I'm probably doing something wrong!!!

Thank so much for the tutorial so much easier to understand then the books!!!

Yeah -- this gets hard though... well -- tough.

Duplicate the layer.

On V1 do the CC trick
on V2 use a Chroma Key and invert the mask.

Good luck,

CaptM

My other thought was to nest two instances of the CC trick and try a composite mode to see if you could get them... haven't tried that, and I know the Chroma Key works.
