PlayStation III and blue ray

The bluray player is $400. Playstation 3 is $400. What's the reason I'm supposed to buy the standalone player?
 
add a couple bucks for the PS3 remote. which is bluetooth and cant be replaced by a conventional universal remote. my research said that the PS3 was comparatively better than the entry level players.
 
There is no reason. The PS3 is generally still the best Blu-Ray player (or one of them) for the price. It's actually genius on Sony's part.
