PlayStation accounts Hacked!

Sony confirmed, and cannot rule out potential theft of personal CC data. Millions of accounts compromised.

Whoa!

Yeah I'm one of the nerds having withdrawal symptoms from not being able to play COD. I think Sony were obviously right to take down the PSN right away but there lack of updates has been pathetic. It's still unclear whether CC info and personal user info has been stolen which makes the lack of info from Sony all the more aggrevating.

EDIT: Latest updates from Sony which actually have some relevance. Not looking good at all.

now that sony has allowed my personal information to be stolen, what should compensation be?

Glad I don't have my CC tied to PSN... Then again, I'm jailbreaking, so I've been without PSN for months

Yes, brilliant post... privacy issues are getting cloudy.

In the past month I got an email from both Best Buy, and Walgreens... stating that the company they use to handle accounts, Epsilon, was "compromised" and that a ton of accounts were lifted.

I like how you sign on for a site that had the little "click here for our privacy policy" which says they'll never compromise your info... but I guess it's not their problem if the company they use does?

Also gotta' agree with Ugafan's point... I'm typically anti-lawsuit... but if all a company has to say is "it was them, not us" to remove liability... then what good is their stated policy?
