Unlike the XBox 360, I may actually get this.

Actually, I'll make my brother pay for it. It looks incredible.

This looks incredible indeed.

Here are some supposedly in-game screenshots from a game called Killzone:

We went from Atari to this! That game looks PHUCKEN TIGHT! I know I'm definetly getting one of these bad boys! I'm also someone who is not really into video games but from seeing Killzone, man I am getting it!

The bump mapping and texture displacement look incredible (if that really is real-time). It even looks like it has NURBs in there.

Am I the only one who thinks the writing on the top of the unit is the same font as from the 'spiderman' movies?

yup, same font :) As for buying a slim PS2, I had to!!! my 3 previous original Ps2's died on me. Pieces of crap. I'm not sold on those killzone screens being realtime though. Sony's been known to throw FMV out there and claim it is in game footage. They could easily set the fmv up to go into first person mode, so that is not proof that it is real time. I guess as the show moves on we'll get more info. Doesn't really matter to me though. I'll buy all 3 systems. I always do :(

Lebroze would be happy to hear that!!

So am I the only one who doesn't really care for the new PS3 look? And what's with the friggin' BOOMERANG controller? Jeez!! Hope they come out with some standard PS controllers for it. They are just classic.

It sort of reminds me of the Ol' Skool Panasonic 3DO for some reason!!

The Specs Sound nice though. I believe the race with M$ will probably be neck and neck for the next few years!! I don't see either machine being the next *DREAMCAST*. Maybe the Nintendo....but they have their own Niche market anyway.....the kiddies!!

haha, 3do. man, i bought one of those cuz' it was the only system that has super street fighter 2 turbo at the time. I didn't regret my purchase although that was th eonly game I ever had for it. Anyway, I'm not liking the fact that Sony is pretty much showing all cinematics from the games and no actual in game footage. I should be used to it though. They did the same thing with the PS2 when it was shown. As for the controller, i wish they would have left it alone. The original design has held up for 2 generations and I'm used to it dammit!!!

I'm not M$ fanboy or anything.....but YES....it is *typical* Sony BS marketing. Show ONLY the pre-rendered cinematic screens and tell everybody it's "Actual Game Footage." Is it a lie? Well.....NO......but it's not exactly the truth either. At least we've seen some real "In-game" footage from the Xbox Camp. I don't care....I'm gonna get all 3 like I usually do. I'll choose who wins!!

im sure they do do the whole pre renderd CGI thing.. alot of game co's do, but aside from the very beginning till they get off the ship.. and the end when the flying ship hits the bridge and blows up towards the camera, this particular clip doesnt appear to be prerendered.. the nature of the graphics seems to be in game - type renditions and the movement of the charachters doesnt have the usual meticulous attention detail and such that a prerenderd scene would have. as well as the environments appear to be pretty optimized as far as quality. i would imagine that if this were a prerenderd scene that it would look a alot better than it does. not saying it doesnt look good.. it look phenominal. but it should. compare PS1 to PS2 and i wouldnt say that what were seeing be claimed as "in game footage" from this all out ballsy PS3 with the new technoloigy available is a strech at all. in fact its about what i would expect from the console. people said the same thing when the PS2 and x-box were coming out. stuff gets better. thats the way it is.. we should really expect it to look like this.. were just so used to what it available now that we somehow for some reason expect the new thing after years of development to not look any better. but in reality i think what were seeing is only natural in the evolution of console systems. ..just IMHO of course. it could be prerendered, i just dont see why it has to be.. and dont think it looks like it is. i mean look at what we can do realtime on a desktop PC for video editing now compared to what would take quite a whie of rendering when the PS2 came out.

Apparently the tech demos had horrible aliasing. If they were pre-rendered, they wouldn't, so at least most of them were real.

What would be hilarious is if they rendered video but turned the anti-aliasing filter off so it would look like in game footage. That would be hilarious.
