playing 16x9 dvd on tv. not 16x9

I have shot some test footage in SQUEEZE mode. I then captured it into FCP using anamorphic NTSC 48khz dv. (100b) I then chose export/quicktime conversion/h264/ best setting/etc. The video rendered as a 16x9 file. I imported this into idvd. It loaded in as a 16x9 video on idvd. I played the burnt disc in my mac- it was good. I played it in a pc-it was good. I then played it from a desktop dvd player into a 16x9 tv and it was 4x3 and obviously cut off. The tv was in wide mode normal. Is there something that I have done wrong? Why won't the TV show the dvd in 16x9 like the computers?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
