Playback Skips

Everything has been working great when suddenly playback starting skipping.
It skips when played back in the preview monitor and from the timeline. When I play the same file with Microsoft Media Player it works fine.

This happens in all of my PPro projects.

I thought maybe somehow there might have been an auto update so I did a system restore back to a control point where I know everything was working but it didn't help.

I'm on a 3.4Ghz HT 2GB RAM FX540 graphics card PPro2 XPPro, editing SD/DV

Any insight where to find the problem is greatly appreciated.
 
i have the same freaking issue. It twitches during play back every 3-5 seconds on my timline project/preview monitors. However, any type of export its smooth as butter! It also plays smoothly on my firewire to TV no issues.

Its jst super annoying to edit with.

any ideas?
 
I had the same thing happen, but I was able to nudge each affected clip back and forth a frame so they became unpreviewed (red line not green line) then re rendered and they were fine. it seemed to be a glitch in the rendered files not the master files.
