I've been using Final Cut 6 on a PowerMac G5 for some time now. My second monitor is a 32 inch LCD TV on which I view the fullscreen preview. Just recently I've noticed that when I play back the timeline the quality is pretty bad. When I pause it becomes sharp as a tack. I'm editing HDV at 30P. I've checked my playback settings and can't figure out why the quality has suddenly dropped. I haven't changed any settings recently.
The strange thing is, when I open previous projects the playback quality is just fine. HDV projects as well as a project with footage from a Pro Res 422 1080p file. The Pro Res project plays sharp as anything.
My system settings for playback are SAFE and Dynamic. I've tried setting UNLIMITED and best quality but it doesn't seem to help with the recent projects I'm having the problem with.
Any thoughts appreciated! I'm hoping its not some problem with the processor on my G5. Could anybody tell me what the best playback settings are if you just want to see the clearest playback from the timeline?
