playback problem after mpeg2 conversion

Ok here is a desperate last minute attempt to get an answer. I've been working since 8 this morning trying figure out why the heck when I convert to mpeg2 my footage looks so terrible. I'm getting really bad stobing and interlace artifacts. So far I've figured that it could be a field dominance issue. Everything points to that except the fact that during my capture (shot in normal 24p) the field dominance is lower, as it should be, and I'm exporting out fcp via quicktime conversion with a lower field dominance. I went in and checked my sequence properties and it confirmed that all the clips were lower field. It's funny though because when I check the properties in a clip in the time line it shows no field dominance. My client is waiting very patiently for me to get it together, but I'm wearing thin. Anyhow if anyone has any ideas please let me know. Thanks for reading

Sorry, I thought 24 had no field dominance. Or is that only in 24PA? Have you tried any other compressors?

I believe because it's captured to mini dv ntsc with the 3:2 pulldown that it's lower field dominance. Or at least i've assumed so. I recorded in 24 normal so I know fcp would treat it just like any other 29.97 dv footage.
