Final Cut question (FCP 6.06).
I am knee deep in an edit on a corporate HD piece. Shot on 7D and transcoded to ProRes (not HQ). Drive is a g-tech mini raid with about 13% of space left with an esata connection to a 2.0ghz MacBook Pro with 2 gigs of ram. Project is about 7 minutes in length. During the edit I am getting the spinning beach ball while FCP lags, freezes (comes the beach ball) and about 6 seconds later unfreezes with the system catching up as the playback in the timeline jumps ahead in position. It can do this every few minutes and does not seem to be consistent.
I thought it was a drive filling up, but now think it is almost like an auto save kicking in. Everything seems okay in the settings area and I have never had this before (and cut multiply shows with the same set-up). Computer is getting very old and I was planning to upgrade soon, so trying to make it through.
