planted akg condenser?

I am on the low budget plan and am filming shorts that are not too complicated as far as shots go (no outdoor action, ect...) I have a friend that will let me use his $350 AKG 3000b condenser mic and preamp whenever I want. He says it picks up sound great even from 3 or 4 feet+ with the preamp. Im thinking of just planting it within 2 feet of the talent in my scenes...Has anyone ever heard of recording audio this way and or with these types of mics?

Re: planted akg condenser?

barant- to really found out is to go out and try it. Place the mic wherever you want and put on your headphones. If you're picking the audio loud and clear with out peaking then youre cool. Make sure if you keep the mic positioning consistent becuase your audio may not sound right. Lets say if you're going to place the mic over head then keep the mic overhead for all the other shots. Hope this helps .

edit: by the way, I own an AKG. I mainly use it for ADR and foley work. It works pretty good.
